Why Prof. Humphrey Nwosu?

Born on October 2, 1941, in Ajalli, Anambra State, Prof. Humphrey Nwosu rose from academic distinction at UNN and UC Berkeley to become one of Nigeria’s most respected scholar-administrators. His intellectual depth and commitment to democratic ideals shaped a lifetime of principled public service.

As NEC Chairman in 1989, he led one of Nigeria’s most consequential transitions, introducing transparent electoral reforms and restoring public trust in the process.

  • Introduced transparent voting reforms that reduced opportunities for fraud.
  • Oversaw the June 12, 1993 election, widely regarded as free and fair.
  • Demonstrated courage, integrity, and institutional accountability under pressure.
